Amber joined the ABC 57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Team in June 2022. This is her first job after graduating with a Meteorology degree with a minor in Mathematics from Central Michigan University – Fire Up Chips! Amber is a Michigan native, growing up in Rockford, Michigan, a city in the Grand Rapids area. West Michigan is where Amber fell in love with weather, especially by watching storms and lake effect snow bands roll in over Lake Michigan. She’s always loved math, science, and communication, and is thrilled to be able to incorporate all of these into her career.

While at CMU, Amber was heavily involved on campus. She was the president of CMU’s Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and an undergraduate teaching assistant for 3 different meteorology-based courses, including CMU’s broadcast meteorology class. She also fulfilled a role as a student meteorologist for 3 years in 2 on-campus news shows, News Central 34 and Central View Live. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she participated in a virtual internship with WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Outside of weather, Amber loves art, music, and her friends and family. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and playing with her cat, Noodle. She hopes to inspire young girls to learn more about STEM just like she was inspired in her own childhood.

Amber feels very grateful to be given the opportunity to share her love of meteorology with Michiana and is excited to be a part of the community. You can connect with her through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or email.
