SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- There is snow on the ground at Four Winds Field, but before you know it, baseball season will once again return to South Bend, and with plenty to do around the ballpark.
Apartments, a distillery, and more coming to the area right by the home of the South Bend Cubs.
In less than 100 days, the South Bend Cubs will take the field for their home opener, and when they do, the ballpark will be packed, and the surrounding area will be buzzing as well!
With a couple new apartment complexes, and some places to get food and drink, you won't have to be a baseball fan to make a trip down here this summer, although that does help.
Steve Lowe, owner of South Bend Brew Werks, isn't upset by similar businesses opening near his establishment, instead, he says it's something he welcomes.
Lowe saying that this is what he hoped for when Brew Werks re-opened in its current spot by the ballpark in 2021.
"It's been a long time coming, COVID kind of slowed some things down in the middle there, and it's been a while to kind of wait and see what shakes out from all that, but we're still here, we're still trying to keep going every day, and it's been fun to see this kind of resurgence again, and a big part of it has been Four Winds Field," said Lowe.
These new businesses are a part of a more than one billion dollar investment in downtown South Bend.
