BUCHANAN, Mich. -- The Buchanan Tree Friends (BTF) are celebrating Arbor Day 2026 with a presentation at Buchanan Middle School on Thursday and a tree planting event on Sunday.

The BTF announced plans for a talk at Buchanan Middle School on Thursday, relaunching the Junior Tree Friends program.

Through the event, the BTF intends on speaking of the importance of planting and celebrating trees as well as providing the fifth-grade students with Sugar Maple tree saplings to plant at home.

The BTF also announced their annual spring tree planting on Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m., with at least 30 trees to plant, starting on the intersection of Redbud Trail and Front Street at Veterans' Memorial Park.

For the tree planting, the BTF is looking for volunteers. If you would like to assist in the planting on Sunday, you can sign up on the BTF's website or their Facebook page.
