BUCHANAN, Mich. -- During a time that’s changed how we celebrate so many milestones, schools are finding all kinds of creative ways to celebrate graduation.
Buchanan High School spared no effort to give a senior class a graduation like no other.
“Everyone was really excited because of this location being in Buchanan, nothing more Buchanan than this,” said Brian Pruett, assistant principal at Buchanan High School.
Teachers collaborated with Redbud Motocross to create a special graduation event — then, Redbud brought in DPM events, who did all of the production for free.
“Our graduates were looking at a pretty dismal tail off, or end of their career, and we thought 'Hey, how can we do this and come together in a big way and make this happen,'” said Randy Hendrixson, owner of DPM events.
Starting with a parade from the high school to the track, students each took their turn pulling up to the stage to receive their diploma — all broadcast on the big screen for hundreds of cars.
For the owners of Redbud, who are Buchanan High School alumni themselves, they were happy to step in and give this small town an experience people would never forget.
“We’re all Buchanan grads so it was pretty cool to do it for all of us,” said Amy Ritchie, co-owner of Redbud.
Since DPM had videographers at the ceremony, all of the students will get a special graduation video too.
