Bruce Bennett found guilty for the murder of Theodore Braun

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On Thursday, Bruce Bennett was found guilty of murder for the fatal shooting of Theodore Braun that happened in December of 2018 at the American Legion Post 284 in South Bend.

The jury deliberated for less than 2 hours before voting to convict Bennett.

Bennett admitted to the firearm sentencing enhancement.

On December 14 of 2018, police were called to the American Legion Post 284 on Grant Road in South Bend around 11:40 p.m. on reports of a shooting.

When Police arrived, they discovered that bar-goers had restrained Bennett and isolated a semiautomatic handgun.

Braun was receiving first aid from the people there, but died before being transported to the hospital.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 13.
