Stepping into a cloudy Christmas with rain on the way
MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. - Each of the past three seasons, Brandywine girls basketball has made a deeper run into the state tournament. This year's team advanced to Tuesday's Division 3 quarterfinals, but ran into the top-ranked Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates.
The Bobcats battled early, but struggled in the second half. They fell 42-19 to end a season full of memories beyond the tough loss.
“What a great year," said head coach Josh Hood. "There’s 186 teams that started this journey and 178 are in spring sports today. So we were fortunate to be one of the eight standing. It stinks that only one team gets to win their last game. There’s a reason P-W is ranked number one. They’re a great team. I told the girls when the sun comes up tomorrow there will be a lot of smiles. They brought a community together. I’m really proud of these girls.”
