NILES, Mich. -- A new superintendent of Brandywine Community Schools is expected to begin her tenure in as soon as two weeks.

The district announced it selected Amanda Lezotte for the role. She previously served as the district's Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Programs.

She began her education career in 2006 as an English and History teacher at Brandywine Middle/Senior High School. She joined the Berrien Regional Education Service Agency in 2018, taking on multiple roles. She returned to Brandywine in 2021 as the Director of State & Federal Programs/Curriculum; she became Assistant Superintendent in 2023.

"I am truly grateful and honored to be selected as the next Superintendent of Brandywine Community Schools," says Lezotte. "It is a privilege to lead in the same district where I got my start as a teacher twenty years ago and continue to build upon generational relationships with our students and parents. I am excited to unify all of our stakeholders around the common goal of Engaging, Educating and Empowering our students to achieve their full potential."

Pending contract negotiations, she will officially begin her tenure as soon as July 28.
