Boil order notice for Benton Charter Township

ABC 57

BENTON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The area of Benton Charter Township is under a boil advisory until further notice.

The advisory comes after a drop in pressure in the water distribution system caused by a distribution pump failure that occurred around 12:47 a.m. on Jan. 17.  Officials say when water mains lose pressure, precautionary measures are recommended. Water staff restore pressure back to normal at 6:43 a.m. on Jan. 17 and they will be collecting samples from around the system to determine when the water quality meets state drinking water standards.

Residents should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

This boil water notice shall remain in effect until results from the sampling verify the water is safe to drink, they anticipate resolving the problem within 48 hours and will inform residents.
