Body recovered from the lake at South Haven's North Beach

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- A body was recovered from the water at South Haven's North Beach Saturday afternoon, according to South Haven Police.

Around 5:30 p.m. a person walking on the North Pier spotted a body in the water near the pier.

Officers and firefighters responded.

South Haven Area Emergency Services attempted to recover the body with a surface swimmer, but the body drifted too far away.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office's Marine Deputies and South Haven Area Emergency Services used a boat to recover the body from the lake.

The body was transported to the Medical Examiner's office for identification.

It is believed the body is of a man who is believed to have drowned on July 12.
