Boat capsizes on Dewey Lake, one injured

SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A man was injured after his boat capsized on Dewey lake Wednesday morning.

Cass County Deputies received a call at approximately 10:36 a.m. regarding a single fisherman in the water, hanging onto the side of the boat.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, a neighbor and officials went out into the lake and rescued 69-year-old James Britanyak of Benton Harbor.

Britanyak told rescuers that he was fishing when his boat took on too much water and he couldn’t back to shore quick enough.

According to deputies, he was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
