BHDPS battles heavy fire at vacant store in Benton Township

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety (BHDPS) responded to a call for automatic aid yesterday from the Benton Charter Township Fire Department for a working fire at a vacant store located at the intersection of North Fair and Edgecumbe.

Upon arrival, BHDPS units encountered heavy fire conditions.

Firefighters worked diligently for several hours to bring the blaze under control. After successfully extinguishing the flames, units returned to the city.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
