BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Sheriff's Office announced they're accepting applications to work for the Marine Unit from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, and officials say you can apply online.

The Marine Deputy seasonal position pay is $18 per hour, and officials say you must pass a background check and swim test.

Job duties are listed as patrols and safety checks, search and rescues, possible body recoveries, issuing citations and warnings, and maintaining the Marine Unit's fleet of equipment, including boats, engines, trailers, and vehicles.

Officials say prior boating knowledge and mechanical aptitude are desired.
