Berrien County Road Commission employee killed in Wednesday crash identified
BUCHANAN, Mich. -- The Berrien County Road Commission employee who was killed in a vehicle collision on Wednesday has been identified as William "Mack" Isom, a 57-year-old man from Baroda, according to the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department.
Isom was working on cutting up a fallen tree in the roadway across Red Bud Trail at 2:59 p.m., when a vehicle collided with Isom and the tree, reported police.
Isom, who had worked for the Road Department for almost 25 years and was lead worker at the Baroda garage, was found dead at the scene.
The vehicle's driver has been identified as Taylor Johnson, a 34-year-old man from Buchanan.
Johnson has been charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death.
All Berrien County Road Department facilities will be closed until Monday, and all Berrien County Board of Commissioners meetings scheduled for Thursday were cancelled.
