NILES, Mich. -- A Berrien County Sheriff's deputy was injured when his patrol car struck a vehicle that turned in front of him Wednesday evening.

Deputy Nathan Withington was traveling northbound on S. 11th Street in the left lane when another vehicle made a left turn into the path of the deputy's patrol vehicle, reports said.

Withington's vehicle struck the Monte Carlo driven by 55-year-old John Paterson, then struck a utility pole, reports said.

Both Withington and Paterson were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
