Barker Mansion MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- During June, the Barker Mansion invites guest to experience history through engaging programs, behind-the-scenes conversations, and guided tours inside one of Indiana’s most significant historic homes.
On June 14, starting at Noon, step back in time with History Hour, as Deputy Executive Director, Kristie Erickson and Curator of Copshaholm, Amber Gabel present the fascinating history of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works of South Bend.
On June 24, at 6 p.m., join the Barker Mansion for Mansion After Hours: Conversation Conversation. Step beyond the surface and into the real work of restoration during this special Mansion After Hours experience—an interactive, behind-the-scenes conversation led by Chris Grohs of Terrawood Designs, the skilled craftsman behind much of the mansion’s restoration. This Q&A-style tour begins with guest questions and continues throughout the experience, inviting visitors to take a closer look at the craftsmanship, challenges, and discoveries uncovered during five years of hands-on restoration work.
The Barker Mansion is open for both self-guided tours and guided tours every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1 p.m. Guests are encouraged to visit the mansion’s website for updates regarding closings due to private events, weddings, and special programming.
