Applications open for citizen ecological advocacy group with South Bend Venues Parks & Arts

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – South Bend Venues Parks & Arts’ Ecological Advocacy Committee is looking for applicants for the 2022 season.

The group advises the Board of Park Commissioners and the City of South Bend on matters of ecological concern.

“The Ecological Advocacy Committee is an extremely important part of the ecological resiliency of our city,” said VPA coordinator, Matthew Moyers. “This diverse and passionate group has helped our city make great strides towards innovative ecological solutions.”

Members are chosen based on a variety of backgrounds, including a passion for parks and public lands, expertise in ecology and natural sustainability, hands-on experience, and an interest in how public lands are used for recreation.

Volunteers appointed to the committee will serve for two years and must attend the nine scheduled meetings a year.

Applications will close on October 29.
