SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Angels in the Attic, an assistance program for families in need, finished up distributing essential items and toys on Monday to the 203 families who applied for assistance this year.
The program aids families who have faced job losses, reduced hours, loss of a family member, or other challenges.
Officials say this initiative ensures that children in these families have gifts under the tree during Christmas.
Kristine Kuroski, CEO and founder of Angels in the Attic, said, "It's so important, and Michiana has one of the best caring communities, Angels in the Attic knows well. But I mean, when we asked for extra donations for this, people came out in droves. So, Christmas always gives you that warm spirit feeling. You know, you want to be helping, but everybody deserves something under the tree, and we want to make sure that happens."
Items distributed included toys, clothes, and more.
