UPDATE: The Lincoln Township Police Department announced they're currently investigating the collision between an Amtrak train and a pedestrian that happened Wednesday at the St. Joseph Avenue and CSX railroad crossing.

Police said at around 9:05 p.m., a call came in regarding the collision.

Upon arrival, officers found an 82-year-old man who had been struck by the train.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings determined the man died upon impact.

The man's identity being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office also responded and is conducting a reconstruction of the collision.

ORIGINAL STORY: STEVENSVILLE, Mich. -- An Amtrak train is stopped on the tracks after hitting a pedestrian while traveling from Chicago to Grand Rapids.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday near St. Joseph Avenue.
