Aftermath of Eddy Street shooting leaves residents unsettled
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Many took to Eddy Street Saturday afternoon to enjoy the beautiful weekend weather, while maybe even grabbing a bite to eat, which was a completely different scene than what took place earlier in the day.
A shooting on Eddy Street and East Angela Boulevard at 1 am on Saturday left three people injured, and hundreds more running for safety.
The carnage outside of Dave’s Hot Chicken on East Angela Boulevard was on full display, as one Kia Soul was seen to have damage from gunfire on the driver's side window and door.
Seen up and down the sidewalk area on East Angela Boulevard, almost thirty pieces of evidence the police marked as investigate.
For many frequent Eddy Street visitors, including South Bend resident Jenario Morgan, these occurrences are unsettling.
“People want to go where they can shop, eat, drink, and be safe,” Morgan said. “Unfortunately, when mishaps happen, it doesn’t have a destination. It’s just a fever of the people, and the combatants that are at it.”
The South Bend Police Department informed ABC57 they will send along any new and relevant information as it becomes available.
