A Michigan City Elementary is honoring local suffragist Naomi Anderson Dec. 18
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Pine Elementary School in Michigan City is inviting the public to a "Be the Change" themed showcase on Wednesday, Dec. 18 that will be put on by the schools second and third grade classes.
School officials say the showcase will feature dance, drama, and choral performances about the Michigan City community and the Michigan City Area Schools Habits of Character.
The event will also feature a presentation centering on the life and legacy of Michigan City suffragist Naomi Anderson and artwork by Pine third graders, who have illustrated a book by local author Cheryl Chapman, "Turn It Around: The Life and Words of Naomi Anderson."
"Thanks to support from the Rotary Club of Michigan City and the Unity Foundation, copies of this book will be provided to every third-grade classroom in Michigan City next semester," said Director of Communication for MCAS, Betsy Kohn.
The show begins at 6 p.m.
