St. JOSEPH, Mich. -- A change is on the way to the Amtrak Station that's cramped next to busy Silver Beach Pizza.
A new outdoor station with a shelter across the tracks is now in early plans after Amtrak designers noticed the vacant field next to the whirlpool fountain.
The new design would install safety fencing to protect pedestrians.
St. Joseph Mayor Brooke Thomas says she fully supports the new design, " it appears to support both Amtrak's objectives related to ADA compliance and safety, and the city's interest in keeping the extra parking sports at Silver Beach Pizza."
