Fiery crash leaves one injured in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. - Cass County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Lewis Lake Road and Hodgson Street in Porter Township, Sunday morning.

Officials say It happened around 5:19 a.m., when a 19-year-old Colon man was traveling southbound on Lewis Lake Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. 

The vehicle then caught on fire.

Police say alcohol and drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash. 

The driver was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
