Elkhart nonprofit packs and delivers food for storm victims

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart non-profit helps those in need after power outages.

The widespread impact of the six confirmed tornados left many without power for days and many haven't been able to cook much.

A local non-profit called "hunger ends here" is acting in Elkhart.

Volunteers came together to pack and deliver food to hundreds of people impacted by recent storms and power outages.

For many families these food boxes were delivered to motels where they're being forced to stay due to power outages.

One of the organizations playing a key role here is gym town pantry and foodbank.

“We have an opportunity to serve the people that are often overlooked in our society. we get to serve people that are usually not seen and not even cared for, or they have a hard time being seen, and so we get to step in and we get to see people, we get to meet people, we get to deliver food to care for their needs,” said Executive director of gym town pantry inc., Scott Griffey.

They'll continue to deliver boxes throughout the week.
