80-year-old suspect found with over one pound of meth

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on Nov. 27, around 10:30 a.m., in Almena Township.

Detectives say the search warrant came after they had made several purchases of methamphetamine from the 80-year-old suspect.

The report states the suspect was found inside his garage, while his wife was located inside the home.

The suspect's wife is not considered a suspect at this time.

Detectives say during the search they located a small amount of meth along with smoking devices and scales.

The report states detectives then interviewed the suspect who told them a large quantity of meth was still in the home.

The man told detectives to check the basement, where they located 1.6 pounds of meth.

Authorities say the suspect admitted to trafficking narcotics.

Once the report is complete, authorities say it will be sent to the Van Buren County Prosecutor for charges.

Detectives reported several guns were also found in the home.
