200-unit apartment on hold in Lincoln Charter Township
Courtesy of Great Lakes Capital LINCOLN CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Lincoln Charter Township Brownfield Redevelopment Authority has taken back its recommendation for the Red Arrow Bluffs Apartment Complex, according to the township manager.
This update occurred on Tuesday, May 12, at the brownfield authority meeting.
Previously, Lincoln Charter Township Trustees approved the site plan for Red Arrow Bluffs,
The project was being developed by Great Lakes Capital where the Snowflake Motel used to be and was described as "high-quality, attainable housing" for local working professionals.
According to Tuesday's meeting minutes, board member Terrie Smith brought up the modification to the current plan.
The minutes read as follows:
"Smith stated that she believed the current Great Lakes Capital Brownfield Plan, as recommended by the Authority to the Board of Trustees, should be modified to remove the parcel to the west from the potential TIF capture. Discussion was held regarding both the term of the Great Lakes Capital Plan and the inclusion of the western parcel, which would not directly benefit from the TIF capture, despite tax increment revenues from that parcel potentially being used to reimburse Great Lakes Capital. Discussion was held among the members regarding formally rescinding the recommendation so the plan could be modified if the project moves forward again."
The township manager told ABC57 there's no date set for going back to the drawing board on this yet, but everything will need to be reconsidered. The manager did not indicate whether they still wanted to make this project happen.
