SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana announced 19-year-old Makai Boyce, of Mishawaka, was sentenced after pleading guilty to possessing a machinegun.
Boyce has been sentenced to six years and three months in prison followed by two years of supervised release.
Court documents state in December 2023 Boyce possessed a stolen handgun with an extended magazine and a machinegun conversion device, or “switch,” capable of firing multiple bullets automatically.
Authorities say Boyce fired the machinegun and struck an occupied residence, and two days later, he led police on a foot chase during which he discarded the gun in a backyard doghouse surrounded by children’s toys.
