18-year-old arrested in connection to June homicide case

ELKHART, Ind. – An 18-year-old was arrested in connection to an early June homicide on Wednesday.

Elkhart Police say on June 3rd, officers were dispatched to a home on the 300 block of South 5th Street regarding a man who had died from multiple gunshot wounds. 56-year-old Quinncy Jackson’s death was ruled as a homicide.

Car’nell Trass, 18, of Mishawaka, was identified as the suspect in the homicide and arrested in Kokomo on an unrelated warrant.

According to law enforcement, the warrant was issued for violating home detention and probation after taking a plea deal in January for bringing a handgun into Riley High School in August.

Wednesday, Elkhart Detectives arrested Trass for the murder of Jackson.
