YOUR VOICE, YOUR VOTE: Tracking Elkhart County sheriff primary election
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Mike Culp is an Elkhart native and currently serves as the captain of the administrative division and the public information officer.
He's been with the sheriff's office since 2004.
Brian Holloman is an Elkhart County native and is the captain of the patrol division.
He's been with the sheriff's office since 1995.
Both men say they're looking for a change and believe they can bring that to the county in their own way.
ABC57's Zakiya Jennings spoke with both sheriff candidates, starting with Holloman, who says accountability, starting with leadership, is non-negotiable.
Holloman said, "I think we have a fabulous agency. There's just some things that have been allowed to slide a little bit over the years, and it's time to get leadership back out into the community."
Culp echoed the same sentiment.
Culp acknowledged the good the sheriff's office has done but says now it's time to take a step forward.
Culp said, "We've been doing a good job, but we need to continue moving the ball forward, so to speak, in a positive direction and continue improving public safety for our folks here."
