Union Pacific OMAHA, Neb. -- A piece of locomotive history is pulling through our area this summer.
Union Pacific announced that the Big Boy No. 4014 is going on tour in honor of the United States 250th anniversary. It is the world's largest steam locomotive still in operation. Train fans will have the opportunity to see the train in action at more than 50 whistle stops. Two are in our area:
- Argos @ S. Michigan Street Crossing (June 5; arrives at 2:15 p.m. EST, departs at 2:45 p.m. EST)
- Knox @ 10 S. Heaton St. (July 16; arrives 1:30 p.m. CDT, departs 2:00 p.m. CDT)
The Argos stop will be the first time the locomotive makes a stop in Indiana. Two additional stops in Fort Wayne will be closed to the public.
