Woodwind and Brasswind packing up shop

Late this afternoon, ABC57 learned that a major employer will be pulling out of South Bend.

The Woodwind and Brasswind currently operates a store and call center on Technology Drive.

They plan to close their South Bend store and move their call center to Indianapolis.  This move will cut about 115 local jobs.

Workers were called into a staff-wide meeting on Wednesday and told about the closing.

The Woodwind and Brasswind will begin pulling out of the area in October.  The retail store's last day of business will be December 31.

Some employees will be given the option to relocate to Indianapolis and continue employment at the call center there.  Other employees will get severance packages.

Woodwind and Brasswind filed for bankruptcy in November of 2006.  They were bought by Guitar Center in early 2007.
