BENTON HARBOR, Mich.—The season of giving is underway in southwest Michigan as Mosaic CCDA’s Wonderland Toy Store opens its doors to hundreds of families seeking affordable Christmas gifts for their children.
Running Thursday through Saturday, the longstanding event allows parents struggling financially to purchase brand new toys at just 10% of retail value, giving the gift of choice and ability to give with help from volunteer “personal shoppers.”
Stocked with donated toys, gift cards and items for teens, the store expects to help bring Christmas magic to 1,200 children this year.
“As families struggle with the cost of food and rent, the Wonderland Toy Store really steps in and meets that need,” said Lisa Cripps-Downey, president of the Berrien Community Foundation.
The store will reopen Friday and Saturday as organizers continue collecting new toys, gift cards and monetary donations.
