MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in an altercation and shooting that happened Monday evening, according to Michigan City Police.

Dispatch received a call about a shooting in the 1000 block of SR 212 around 8:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound and other injuries sustained in an altercation, police said.

She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The shooting happened at a nearby residence, police determined.

A suspect has been identified and detained while the case is reviewed by the prosecutor’s office.
