ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --The St. Joseph County Police Department reports officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in 10000 block of Beatrice Street in Osceola on March 16.

Police say they spoke with 33-year-old Heather Burns and another individual involved in the incident.

The report states Burns initially left the property but returned later that day to retrieve some personal items.

Police say about five minutes after her second departure, a witness reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the home.

SJCPD's Detective Bureau and State Fire Marshall started their investigation into the fire and determined it was intentionally set and was officially ruled an Arson.

Detectives continued their investigation and said they learned Burns may have stolen items from the home.

Burns was taken into custody and formally charged with Felony Arson, Felony Theft, and Misdemeanor Theft following the investigation.
