Here are just a few of the events and activities going on in the Michiana area this weekend.

33rd Annual Ligonier Marshmallow Festival

Ligonier Marshmallow Festival

The 33rd Annual Ligonier Marshmallow Festival is happening from Friday until Monday, Sept. 2 in downtown Ligonier.

Entry is free along with parking.

There will also be free entertainment, and attendees will receive free marshmallows.

Organizers say you'll only pay for vendor items, ride tickets, and festival food.

There will be a marshmallow roast, kids' activities, live music, tractor pulls, face painting, BINGO, and more.

'Ice Cream Trains' at Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in Starke County

Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum

The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is hosting an 'Ice Cream Trains' event on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 in North Judson.

Visitors can enjoy an ice cream before boarding a train to ride around the Indiana countryside.

People can choose from a coach or open-air seating when purchasing a ticket for diesel trains. Steam trains will have open-air or caboose seating only.

The train ride will last 45 minutes.

'Drool in the Pool' at Kennedy Water Playground

South Bend Venues Parks and Arts

South Bend Venues Parks and Arts will hold "Drool in the Pool," an opportunity for residents to bring their dogs to the pool, at Kennedy Water Playground on Monday, Sept. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Organizers invite you to bring your furry friends, big or small, to have some fun in the water.

No registration required and the entrance fee is three cans or one small bag of Purina pet food or cat litter to be donated to the South Bend Animal Resource Center.

Organizers say well-behaved dogs are welcome to enjoy the pool.

Dogs 25 pounds or less are welcome from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., while 25 pounds or more are welcome from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Dog owners must provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations, dogs must be wearing a flat buckle/snap collar for controlling in the facility, and dog owners must be at least 18 years old.

Anyone 17 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
