MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Fourth of July fun is just starting at Mishawaka’s Central Park at 6:30 tonight and will wrap up around 10 after a fireworks show.

Mishawaka Parks and Rec staff said a big crowd is expected here for the event as this is the only fireworks show happening in St Joseph County.

There’s going to be food and craft vendors, a beer garden for those over 21, live music from Memphis Underground and inflatables are already set up for the kids.

Parking is limited so park staff suggests those who plan on coming out be prepared to walk and find street parking or parking in a nearby neighborhood.

Alcohol and smoking products will not be allowed at the park. The only place you will be able to have an alcoholic drink will be in the beer garden. Nonalcoholic food and drink is welcomed.

Mishawaka Parks and Rec Special Events Director Brittani Gendron said safety is going to be a top priority so there’s nothing to worry about.

“We will have the police department out here, our electric department, our street department eyes and ears, and the fire department will be out with their fire department out here as well this evening. So we’ll have a lot of different city departments here to make sure everyone is safe,” Gendron said.

Gendron also suggest bringing lawn chairs and arriving early if you want a good seat for the fireworks show which starts just after dark.
