If approved, the Ultium LLC plant would add 1,600 jobs to New Carlisle.
"This really is the future and if the future can start here, then we're real excited about being a part of that," said Bill Schalliol, Executive Director of Economic Development in St. Joseph County.
The vote for approval was pushed back two weeks during a meeting on Tuesday night.
Construction on the plant could start as early as spring 2023.
