A rare bout of rain Friday morning also came with a little extra for some across Michiana.
Thunder and lightning boomed and flashed across the sky in New Buffalo and South Bend. While thunderstorms aren't commonly associated with Michiana autumn, thunder can happen at any time of year.
In fact, thunderstorms were reported in three out of the last four Novembers. Additionally, some in South Bend heard thunder two days after Christmas in 2021!
With this in mind, the thunderstorms Friday were likely not the last of the year. Michiana's next chance of rain is on Halloween.
Could we, a year after trick-or-treating in the snow, instead have to watch out for lightning while getting candy?
Stay tuned to the forecast!
