Week 6: Inside the Lines
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- LeVon Whittaker breaks down the betting options during Inside the Lines as navigates the best bets in the matchup between Notre Dame and Stanford.
Another home game, another 20+ point win favorite for the Irish. The third of the season.
Notre Dame come into week six as 22.5 point favorites and an over/under of 45.5 points. The Irish have only hit over and covered the spread once this season. Both were against Louisville in the week five win at home.
Week six offers a unique storyline. It's a battle for the Legends Trophy against Stanford in the 38th matchup between the two programs. The last time the two teams met in South Bend, Stanford won 16-14.
The difference this year is Notre Dame is coming off a bye and history is in favor of Marcus Freeman and his team.
"So far very small sample size, but off of by weeks, Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame have done very, very well. 2021 BYU came out to Las Vegas, won that game, covered you look at last year. Won both games off of their buy and covered with ease against Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. So, Notre Dame has been in these spots before, and they have actually played pretty well. But I think if I had to make a play, as much as I don't like laying it with big favorites, anything under you know, 24 would probably be the way that I would go here, knowing Notre Dame will have the rest advantage taken on Stanford," Tim Murray with Vegas Sports & Information Network said.
Murray has decided to take Notre Dame to cover the spread of 22.5. In my opinion, I can't trust the Irish to cover a spread that large, when they've failed twice. But the history coming off the bye week is intriguing, so if you're going to roll with the spread, take it as a single bet.
If you're looking for more than one leg, here's LeVon's Parlay.
At +184: Stanford team total over 10.5 points & Over 45.5 total points scored.
