ELKHART, Ind.--- Due to freezing temperatures a water main break occurred on Cone St. This caused water to spread approximately down two to three blocks.
A sheet of ice eventually formed making the roads slick. Some people in the area said they are concerned about possible flooding once the temperatures rise.
The City of Elkhart crews were on the scene and sealed the water pipe break. When asked by ABC57 if the neighborhoods water could be affected, the company said the specific break in the pipe won’t affect the water.
City officials said this is a normal occurrence and happens in Elkhart around 18 to 24 times per year.
Officials said the repairs took longer than usual since the crews were working in extreme temperatures.
