Washington Park Zoo one of seven reaccredited nationally
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Zoological Association of America announced earlier this week that Michigan City's Washington Park Zoo was one of a handful of zoos across the country that have been reaccredited, along with six newly accredited facilities.
"Achieving accreditation is no easy feat, requiring a thorough multi-day review of our animal care program, conservation efforts, operation standards, employee training, and safety," Washington Park Zoo officials said. "With only 71 accredited facilities, we’re proud to be recognized among them."
The seven reaccredited zoos and six newly accredited facilities brings the total number of accredited zoos in America to 71.
"A heartfelt thank you to our amazing keepers and staff, whose hard work, dedication, and passion make this possible every day," WPZ officials said. "This achievement is a testament to your commitment to excellence!"
