Vermicomposting for Beginners at St. Patricks County Park

Join St. Joseph County Park staff at St. Patrick’s County Park to learn the basics of composting with worms. Program will be held in the Brown Barn on Saturday, May 5, 2012, 10 a.m. to noon. The $5 per person fee includes park entrance and program supplies. Registration and payment are required by May 2 at (574) 654-3155.

Participants will discover how to recycle kitchen scraps into valuable compost for the garden and houseplants. Worms provide a valuable service by recycling waste and improving soil. Learn how they can help reduce the amount of waste sent to a landfill. Participants will also make a small “worm bin” to get started composting at home. Vermicomposting can be a fun family activity!

St. Patrick’s County Park is located on Laurel Road, just north of Auten Road in South Bend. For more information or to register, call St. Joseph County Parks at (574) 654-3155.
