Pilot suffers serious injuries after crash in Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. – Police say a pilot is suffering serious injuries after a small aircraft crashed into a lake near Paw Paw.

The 46-year-old man crashed into Ackley Lake around 6 p.m. on Friday night, reports say.

Bystanders were able to help the unconscious man who was submerged in water after the crash.

Officers say they called the Federal Aviation Administration to respond to the scene.

He has been taken to the hospital for treatment, but his exact condition is unknown at this time.
