SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The U.S. Postal Service is now accepting registrations for its annual "Operation Santa" program.

The program allows people to adopt letters from less fortunate children and families to help fulfill their holiday wishes.

Those interested must register online and verify their identity.

Starting Nov.16, approved participants can select letters and shop for gifts.

They can shop on their own or use an online gift catalog powered by Toys "R" Us.

All gifts must be shipped by Dec. 12.

You can sign up on the USPS website.
