U.S. 20 closed beginning August 9 for railroad work

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. – The railroad crossing on U.S. 20 between Railroad Road and County Line Road will be closed starting Monday, August 9 for repair, CSX Railroad announced.

The road will be closed near the border of La Porte and Porter Counties for an emergency repair due to a crossing gauge being out of FRA compliance.

They will also rebuild the at grade crossing in that area.

The road is expected to be closed for about five days, weather permitting.

Motorists are asked to please find an alternate route.

The official detour will follow U.S. 421, I-94, and S.R. 49.
