PUNTA COLORADA, Uruguay – The Marine Fauna SOS Rescue added ten immigrated penguins to the rehabilitation center on Wednesday.
Dozens of penguins have arrived to the coasts of Uruguay under natural migration over the last week.
Richard Tesore from the Marine Fauna said the penguins emigrate from the Argentinian Patagonia every year.
The weakest and youngest penguins that the center took in have died from hypothermia, dehydration, and malnutrition.
According to Tesore, the arrival of the penguins is natural but the 2018 season began earlier than normal.
There is no word on how long recovery will take, but the center will release them to sea when the birds are ready.
