UPDATE: Bypass back open after black ice caused accidents

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County and South Bend Police said black ice caused several slide-offs Friday morning.


According to the county, this is happened along U.S 20 Bypass from U.S. 31 interchange to the state line.


South Bend Police closed the bypass westbound at Ironwood Drive just after 7 a.m.


A South Bend officer on the scene told the ABC 57 News Crew they responded to 4 to 5 accidents. They all appeared to be minor.


St. Joseph County Radio Dispatch told our newsroom there have been some injuries reported.


The bypass reopened at 8:30 a.m.
