United Way of St. Joseph County invests $350,000 in local organizations

ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - - United Way of St Joseph County is excited to celebrate the conclusion of its 2024 Fall Grant Cycle. 

With 62 applications initially submitted, United Way was able to distribute $350,000 to 17 different programs throughout the county. With this funding, programs were able to address county wide issues such as economic mobility, education, health, and safety net services.

The review process was aided by a review panel made up of dedicated volunteer-led community members. 

“These grants represent a crucial investment in programs that are making a measurable difference and helping to create lasting opportunities for individuals and families in our region.” said CEO of UWSJC Jamie Cox.

The programs selected to receive grant funding consist of a variety of services ranging from mental health support, workforce development, early education and community safety net initiatives. 

Overall, 15 out of the 17 organizations involved received individual funding with two of the organizations receiving multiple grants.

Those 15 organizations being:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northeast Indiana Corridor
  • Mental Health Awareness of Michiana
  • La Casa de Amistad, Inc.
  • Young Men’s Christian Association of Greater Michiana, Inc.
  • Cross Community, Inc.
  • Center for the Homeless
  • El Campito, Inc.
  •  Five Star Life
  • Public Education Foundation Inc dba The South Bend Education Foundation
  • Rescue, Inc dba Hope Ministries
  • Restorative Justice Collaborative Hub Inc
  • LOGAN Community Resources Inc
  • McMillen Health
  • Broadway Christian Parish United Methodist Church
  • Youth Service Bureau.

CEO of UWSJC Jamie Cox went on to say, “This process serves as a reminder of the importance of United Way leading and building partnerships to mobilize resources to address the highest priority needs in our community.”
