Two-vehicle crash in Wakarusa after driver drifted over centerline
ABC 57 ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- At approximately 2:48 p.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of C.R. 32 and C.R. 11 in Wakarusa.
A 2015 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound on C.R. 32, west of C.R. 11 and drifted left of the centerline into the eastbound lane while approaching the top of a hill.
After reaching the top of the hill, the Suburban collided head-on with a 2003 GMC Sierra, which had been traveling eastbound on C.R. 32.
Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. Following the collision, the Suburban caught fire.
The driver of the Suburban was treated at the scene by Harrison Township Fire Department medics, and the driver of the Sierra was treated for pain to the wrist/hand and leg by Wakarusa Fire Department.
Both drivers were then transported to Elkhart General Hospital for further treatment of their injuries.
The driver of the Suburban was cited for Bodily Injury- Driving Left of Center/IFA.
