Two residents, two ISP Troopers rescue driver from burning vehicle
Indiana State Police FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver was rescued from their burning vehicle following a crash on the morning of June 9 in Fulton County.
Indiana State Police report Captain Bob Burgess and First Sergeant Josh Rozzi responded to the single-vehicle crash on S.R. 17 near C.R. 900 South.
The vehicle was reported to be on its side, on fire, with the driver trapped inside.
The troopers arrived on scene to find locals, Jeff Smith and Sam Smith, attempting to rescue the driver.
Police say despite repeated attempts, the four weren't able to put out the increasingly intense fire.
The four then successfully rescued the driver before flames reached him.
The investigation determined the driver suffered a medical emergency before driving off the roadway and flipping on its side.
The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
