Two of 12 boilers operating at Karl King Tower according to Portage Township officials
ABC57 SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Dec. 9, the Portage Township Trustee office reported they were aware of heating issues reported at Karl King Tower apartment complex in South Bend after residents reported it.
Portage Township Trustee Jason Critchlow stated at the time they were communicating with the city who assured them steps were being taken to address the situation.
This included the city working with property management team and coordinating efforts which included Code Enforcement and the South Bend Fire Department.
As of Sunday night, Critchlow stated only two of 12 boilers were operating.
The city has now been asked to inspect the tower on Monday after Critchlow stated residents continued to complain about the issues throughout the weekend.
Critchlow stated, "We will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General Office and offering to assist with their investigation. We may also bring our own litigation. I am collecting more facts to include in that complaint before proceeding but expect to have final determinations soon."
